Joy and Peace Brian Steere - Christmas Circle dance WI Hall - Wells-next-the-Sea 7.30 - 9.30pm. £5. Using recorded and live music to simple joined dances from around the world There are two strong threads running through the idea for this event. An invitation to celebrate Christmas in a shared spirit that is open to all - in simple joining with music and dancing together. I will use some recorded music but also some dances will be with un-amplifed song and music. The dances do not require partners and range from gentle meditations to merry mirth. The choice of dance for this eveninig will be such as to embody a spirit of joy and peace while also serving as a good introduction for those who are new to circle dance. This is not a social entertainment with a bar so much as an introductory class that celebrates Christmas. We will have a break for tea or fruit juice and biscuits. The story of Christmas speaks to me of the coming of love into a world of fear and confusion. Regardless of our personal path in life, we benefit from such a dawniing in our own hearts - on any day of the year! I certainly do not feel joy and peace to be confined to Christmas, nor love to any particular teaching or tradition - but is in the intimacy of our own heart revealed - a step at a time - as we make welcome. Sharing music and dance can join us without a need for words and thinking. And the steps are shared in a very easy way with the emphasis being on enjoyment rather that correctness or problem solving. I also co-run, sing and play as part of the Sheringham Circle dance group which meets on 2nd and 4th Friday afternoons at 2.45 until 4.45. (I run the 4th Friday session and Jane the 2nd).
