Viudas de vivos e mortos Widows of the alive and dead. One goes and the other one goes and all, all of them go. Galicia stays without men that can work the land. Instead you have orphans, instead you have lonely fields, you have mothers that do not have children and children that do not have a father. And you have hearts that suffer long fatal absences, widows of the alive and dead that live in longing.
Poem by RosalIa de Castro. Song by Amando Prada. Transcript of Gallego by Lourdes Iglesias from Galicia. Transcript to English by Christiana Ferreira and Jordi Brito Dance choreography by Stefan Freedman- (who also sent me this information along with the music ;-) |
